Short logs curly birch, flame birch and juniper are generally measured by weighing, because the logs can be short and thin. The measurement can be done either when the wood is unseasoned, dried, cut into logs or sawed into planks.
The above mentioned “official” measures apply to industrial raw materials. Speciality wood (raw material for carpenters) is usually cut into shorter sections, for example 3-4 m or even 1 m. Floor and boat woods naturally make an exception, as they are always cut into as long sections as possible.
