Glued Joints

The use of glued joints in load-bearing structures requires a permit, so they are mainly made in prefabricating factories, where the manufacture can be supervised.

Caseine adhesives and thermosetting resin adhesives are used in the connections. The adhesives are selected on the basis of the stress exerted on the joint and exposure to moisture. A glued joint is used in applications such as seaming of glued laminated timber, finger joints, flanges of thin-web supports, flange connections and in the manufacture of wood boards.
